The Florida Orthopaedic Society

The Florida Orthopaedic Society (FOS) was founded in 1947 with a goal to raise the standards of orthopaedic practices. We offer physicians and industry professionals the opportunity to increase the relevance of their practice so they can translate this enhanced level of service towards their patients. Applying the comprehensive platform we’ve developed will significantly improve practice operations and the general orthopaedic health of your patients.

 

FOS continuously showcases a devout committed to transforming the industry through our unique collaboration with orthopaedic professionals throughout the state of Florida. It’s our faithful ambition to influence the rest of the nation’s practices with proper orthopaedic improvements starting with our home state. Below describes the unique benefits of a membership with the Florida Orthopaedic Society.

 

Continue Your Medical Education and Orthopaedic Training

FOS offers orthopaedic professionals to further their medical knowledge and training by the provision of ongoing education and various certification opportunities. Below is a list of the education and training events available through FOS.

·         Annual Scientific Meeting: FOS provides members with access to annual scientific meetings to discuss current orthopaedic news with continuing medical education opportunities.

·         Annual Coding and Reimbursement Conferences: These events will give physicians the information they need to stay up-to-date on the latest industry news and legislation.

·         Monthly Webinars: These online conferences will discuss current topics and practice management issues.

·         Networking Opportunities: Networking events will take place between physicians and administrators throughout Florida.

 

Political Representation for Orthopaedic Practices

FOS represents the interests of the profession throughout the entire state of Florida. The following will highlight the different forms of representation Florida Orthopaedic Members can expect.

 

·         Legislative and Regulatory Representation: The common topics addressed are tort reform, expansion of outpatient opportunities for ASC’s, workers compensation, PIP, and many more from a Tallahassee lobbyist.

·         Lobbying Representation in Tallahassee: This is the location of our independent contract lobbyist.

·         Political Action Committee: This committee interviews and endorses pro-medicine candidates with emphasis on orthopaedics for public office.

·         Weekly Web Conferences: Web sessions are available to participants to engage other members and grassroots network.

·         Host an Orthopaedic Day on the Hill: Members will have the opportunity to host an orthopaedic day each spring in Tallahassee, Florida and on the Hill in Washington, D.C.

·         Florida Orthopaedic Political Action Committee Regulatory Representation: Frequent meetings will take place to discuss various topics with the Office of Insurance Regulation, Workers Compensation, Medicaid, Medicare Fiscal Intermediary and more.

 

Programs and Services with FOS

FOS has invested heavily in the development of tools and resources that can lead to more profitable practices across Florida. Whether it’s contracting tools or regulatory alerts, we have the information you need to enhance the efficiency of your practice.

 

·         Carrier Advisory Committee Representation: In conjunction with our Medicare Contractor, members will receive First Coast Service Options.

·         Benching Survey: Benchmarking opportunities are available on practice operations and efficiencies.

·         Interactive Orthopaedic Community and Website: This service is a joint initiative of the Florida Orthopaedic Society and Bones Society and Bones Society of Florida. Here you will create a dynamic member profile, create connections with your peers, collaborate on issues that impact the profession, share tools and resources.
